The Finnish Musicological Society was established in 1911 by Ilmari Krohn. The society promotes Finnish musicological research by publishing a peer-reviewed quarterly journal Musiikki as well as books, and by organizing various scientifically-oriented events (e.g., a yearly national symposium in collaboration with The Finnish Ethnomusicological Society).
